Birmingham International Airport
Birmingham International Airport is committed to taking its environmental responsibilities seriously and that is why it has recently joined up with Cool Earth.
As well as sponsoring key tracts of endangered forest and locking up over 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, BIA, working in partnership with Cool Earth, is also investing in classroom equipment, solar powered internet, and a boat for Cool Earth's projects.
To enhance the initiative and deliver local benefits to the Airport community, BIA and Cool Earth have been working with Small Heath School and Sixth Form College in Birmingham to build the initiative into the school's curriculum, and over the last four months students have been learning about all things Brazilian, including studies in culture, environment, language, sport, history, arts, music and cuisine.
To mark the partnership the school held a 'Brazilian day' on 4th March.
Birmingham Airport is totally dedicated to this and today's launch is one of the many ways we are acting on reducing our global impacts whilst helping communities. We're proud of this joint partnership and hope it continues to grow from strength to strength. John Morris, BIA, Head of Corporate and Community Affairs
