The nine tropical tree stumps are expected to reach UK shores this month and will be showcased between November 16th-22nd in the London tourist hotspot to promote the importance of rainforest protection.

Angela Palmer, the artist, searched for the stumps in western Ghana and told the BBC that in the past 50 years, Ghana has lost 90 per cent of its virgin rainforest.

However, the country is aware that it must do more to support rainforest protection and has put in place a policy of selective logging.

"As a result, the forest canopy is retained, the young saplings regenerate naturally, leading to a thicker forest and the timber industry continues," Ms Palmer told the news resource.

The tree stumps will form the Ghost Forest art project and come from seven different types of tree, with the largest stump taken from the Denya.
