Columbia 'has taken steps to preserve biodiversity'
The Columbian government and industry have made a number of moves to try and make the country more ecologically sound, it has been stated.

According to information released by the United Nations 64th General Assembly, the country has made "significant progress" in trying to create biofuels without impacting food security and had also taken measures to put environmentally friendly mass transportation systems in place.
Through these steps, the country has helped to protect both water sources and biodiversity in its rainforests and other areas.
As well as this, Columbia has put in place rainforest protection programmes over more than half of the rainforest.
"The Forest Ranger Families programme included more than 90,000 rural families who took care of the forest. That had helped avoid predation of the forest," the source noted.
Central and South America are home to more than half of the world's tropical rainforests, with the largest such forest being the Amazon. Tropical rainforests have an average temperature of around 26 degree Centigrade and around 100 inches of rainfall each year.
