Cool Earth Coffee is Perking up Britain's Troops
Cool Earth Coffee is not only helping the Ashaninka community in the Peruvian Amazon protect vast areas of rainforest but is now perking up Britain's troops each morning thanks to a new contract with the Ministry of Defence.
The £375k
contract with the MoD has made Cool Earth Coffee the coffee supplier to the British forces and is keeping over 300, 000 at risk trees in Peru's rainforest standing, equivalent to protecting an area of rainforest four times the size of Hyde Park!
Captain Jeremy Rigby RN, Defence Food Team Leader at the MoD's Defence Equipment and Support organisation (DE&S), said:
"This contract is an example of how our suppliers have been able to source a quality brand of coffee for our troops, which provides value for money to the taxpayer and also furthers our commitment to supporting wider green issues. "
Cool Earth Coffee is Rainforest Alliance Certified and made from the highest quality Arabica beans. Every purchase of a jar of Cool
Earth Coffee protects an endangered rainforest tree. As well as being stocked in over 600 Tesco stores nationwide, supplying the MoD is another sign of Cool Earth Coffee's high standards in sustainability and quality.
Austin Sugarman, Managing Director of FFI (Fine Foods International) who produces and manufactures Cool Earth Coffee commented
"Any contract to supply the MoD is subject to rigorous product and quality specifications so we are extremely pleased that Cool Earth Coffee has been selected. While value for money is obviously a high priority, the award of this contract proves that with Cool Earth Coffee the MoD can offer a high quality product whilst still ensuring a true ethical stance is adopted".
During Cool Earth's latest trip to visit their partnership projects in Peru, they hosted an impromptu Coffee Morning for the Ashaninka community to taste the coffee that is helping to keep their rainforest standing.
