Environment expert analyses biofuel use
Environment expert and BBC writer Roger Harrabin has questioned whether biofuel policies put forward by the European Union "will stand up to scrutiny".

Writing for the news provider's website, Mr Harrabin said that there are many arguments for and against the use of biofuel as an alternative source of power to traditional fossil fuels.
Many environmentalists are against plans to use biofuel, he noted, with a group of eco-conscious campaigners now planning to force the European Commission to publish all its evidence on how the use of the oil could impact the planet.
"The environmentalists say they suspect that the commission's analysis contains explosive evidence that could blow the EU's biofuels strategy apart," he said.
Concerns have also been raised over the potential impact of biofuel use on the planet's rainforest, with some claiming that under the new EU rules, some palm oil plantations could be classed in the same category of protection as rainforests and tropical forest areas.
