Protecting rainforests with Cool Earth Action - Keeping carbon where it belongs

Freshers' have a green start to the new term

850 students in Devon and Cornwall had a green beginning to their new term after protecting a tree with Cool Earth.

The rainforest charity sponsored a tree for free in the name of any student who showed their support by signing up to become a volunteer.

Attending Freshers' Fairs was a first for Cool Earth but the response from students, just beginning their higher education or university courses was extremely positive. More than 365 students at University College Falmouth visited the Cool Earth stand and claimed their sponsored tree. At Exeter University 260 students took the time to find out how they could safeguard the environment whilst at university.

Cool Earth also visited Plymouth University, Cornwall College and Truro College.

Collectively these South West students are now keeping around 20 acres of endangered rainforest safe, which will remain protected long after they've left their courses.
