New Look Low Carbon Homes
One of the UK’s newest and greenest high-tech home and office complexes – Greenhouse Leeds – has been short listed for “Sustainable Refurbishment of the Year” Award.
A low carbon
development, Greenhouse Leeds provides domestic and work environments that actively encourage an environmentally
sustainable lifestyle. An added
attraction, no doubt, the Greenhouse has significantly lower energy bills than
the average new build. This innovative
development incorporates over 170 apartments as well as high spec work
spaces.
The building was previously a hostel for some 500 seasonal workers, but then discovered by the architectural company citu in 2004. The project took several years to bring to fruition, but today’s residents express pleasure at the quality of the restoration as well as the building’s great value and green credentials, utilising, as it does, high levels of energy efficiency as well as some renewable energy.
This year building has already gained notoriety and a number of awards including RIBA’s White Rose, CEDIA’s Best Multi-Dwelling Project and the iDFX Interior Design.
