Rainforest race 'supports Costa Rica charity'
An 18-kilometre road race through the rainforests of Costa Rica could be a great opportunity for long-distance runners to enjoy a trip to the jungle and support a good cause.

The Calgary Herald reported that the race is set to take place on May 1st on the Osa Peninsula.
Organised by the Lapa Rios Rainforest eco-lodge, the Lapathon Jungle Race is held annually and all proceeds are donated to support programmes for local children with learning disabilities.
The facility is situated on more than 400 hectares of preserved rainforest and has been hailed by Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic to be one of the world's top eco-lodges.
Lapa Rios was established in the 1990s by a pair of former peace corps volunteers and the proceeds of the ecotourism operation are used to support the maintenance of the private reserve of rainforest land, where over 320 identified species of trees, plants and birds can be seen.
