Join our campaign to save Guyana's rainforest
12 February 2008
Ask your Member of Parliament (MP) to sign Frank Field's petition.
Responding to the plea from the President of Guyana for Britain to pay for the protection of the country's 50 million acre rainforest, Frank Field MP, Cool Earth co-founder, has put down a petition in the House of Commons asking all MPs to back the call.
Rt. Hon. Frank Field MP
The Early Day Motion (EDM) already has 59 signatures but the more it gets, the more likely it is that the Government will act. Please ask your own MP to sign EDM 893.
All you need to do is to find your MP and their contact details at this website: http://www.upmystreet.com/
If you want to read the EDM and check whether your MP has already signed visit the Early Day Motion section of Parliament's website
To bring EDM 893 to the attention of your MP simply cut and paste the below text into an email:
Dear MP I am writing to ask you to sign EDM 893, which calls on the Government to take up the offer from the President of Guyana to place the country's entire 50 million acre rainforest under the protection of a British-led coalition, in return for development aid. Rainforest destruction emits more global warming CO2 each year than the entire United States and stopping this loss is the single most effective way to prevent catastrophic climate change. Please add your name to EDM 893 and urge the Government to put a protective arm around this critical resource. With best wishes,Your help is vital to our campaign so thanks for taking the time to add your support.
