World's first Amazon contraceptive

The Amazon rainforest is being employed to create condoms using the rubber from the trees.  The Brazilian Government hopes that not only will the move help protect the remaining Amazon but that it will also reduce reliance on imported condoms and make it easier to give condoms away free.

The latex condom is, according to a BBC report, going to be called Natex, and will produced from the state of Acre, employing hundreds of local people.
