Vertigo - the sustainable development consultants - is one of
Cool Earth's leading partners and is already helping to protect over one
hundred acres of endangered tropical forest.
In the UK, Vertigo strives to create a more sustainable built environment. By donating 5% of its turnover to Cool Earth, Vertigo is also creating sustainable rainforest communities that help keep carbon where it belongs in pristine, protected rainforest.
"We are delighted to be able to protect rainforest in heavily threatened areas. We hope to persuade others within the property sector to do likewise."
Mike Roberts, CEO Vertigo SDC
Vertigo's commitment to rainforest protection is already making
a huge difference to the lives of local communities and security of the trees
in Peru and Brazil.
Cutivivireni is one of Cool Earth's largest projects and has been developed alongside Ecotribal and the Ashaninka people of Peru. Vertigo has secured 130 acres (42 hectares) of mature rainforest and has kept 33,800 tonnes of carbon dioxide where it belongs. This means Vertigo's sponsorship is protecting around 5,720 mature trees, 24,700 saplings, 4 endangered species of mammal, 322 types of plant and over 11,000 species of insect and worm.
