African rainforest dome to be created at zoo
A new biodome aimed at recreating the environment in the African rainforest at Chester Zoo is on its way to construction after the first planning permission applications were sent to the council today (December 31st).

Cheshire Online reported that detailed plans for the new biodome have been submitted to local authorities and include proposals set to make Chester Zoo one of the top five zoos in the world.
The biodome - called the Heart of Africa - is designed to house a rainforest-themed environment in which animals such as okapis and gorillas can live alongside tropical birds, fishes and "lush" vegetation. It is scheduled to be some 34 feet high.
Africa is home to the Congo rainforest, which is the second largest in the world after the Amazon. Creatures which can be found in this forest include bonobos and the Congo peacock, which can only be found in this part of Africa.
