Met Office announce global warming plan

The Met Office is to look at global temperature figures going back more than 150 years in a bid to come to a conclusion on climate change.

Global warming data to be studied by Met Office

The office is teaming up with the World Metrological Organization for the project, which will see 160 years of records studied. After the data is looked at, new levels of understanding about phenomena which can impact global temperature, such as atmosphere change, will be considered and any necessary changes made to data.

Following a number of high-profile scandals involving climate change reports based on biased or inaccurate data, many people are now more sceptical over the existence of global warming.

According to the Met Office, there are ways of making global warming data monitoring more accurate and reliable.

"To meet future needs to better understand the risks of dangerous climate change and to adapt to the effects of global warming, further development of these datasets is required, in particular to better assess the risks posed by changes in extremes of climate," it said.
