Protecting rainforests with Cool Earth Action - Keeping carbon where it belongs

Brother saves rainforest

Brother logo Brother has teamed up with Cool Earth to provide funding for the Ashaninka region of the Peruvian Amazon.

The office technology brand's sponsorship is helping the Amazon tribes to protect the rainforest; allowing endangered wildlife to thrive in its natural habitat, as well as keeping carbon safely locked away in the trees.

Thanks to Brother the local communities can responsibly harvest produce such as nuts, coffee and cocoa, and are benefiting from a number of resources, including classroom equipment and solar powered internet.

Brother has launched a European initiative that links sponsorship with its free return and recycle environmental programme, and has pledged funds based on the number of used printer cartridges returned by customers in Europe.

Managing Director of Brother Europe, Mr Yuji Ishiguro, comments:

"We are pleased to be supporting the remarkable work Cool Earth does and have formed an ongoing partnership with the charity. Our aim is to protect more than a million trees by the end of the year - to support biodiversity and help reduce carbon emissions from deforestation.

"Our Cool Earth Eco-Rewards campaign encourages customers to return their used ink and toner cartridges and drums, so that they can be recycled and disposed of responsibly. In return, we're pledging funding for Cool Earth."
