In school in Peru

The community of Cutivireni in Peru has three schools. One secondary and one primary in the main village of the community and one further primary school in the village of Tinkareni.

The students at the schools come from the surrounding villages during the week to study (amongst other topics) languages, science and maths.

Cool Earth visited three schools; two primary and one secondary whilst in Cutivireni, Peru this August (2009).

The students treated Cool Earth to performances of local dances, music and verse at each school and were able to spend time talking to them about the messages that they would like us to bring home to the schools that we teach in.  Soon we will be making the videos of these requests available on the site but for now we have listed them below:

  • A student exchange would be of so much benefit to them
  • Please stop polluting the world
  • We conserve the rivers and forest
  • We want to protect the environment.  Have no indiscriminate logging as this gets rid of animals that live in the forest
  • We need to conserve the rivers, forests and animals: jaguar, tapirs, puma, aguity, monkeys, wild pigs, deers and pacas.

The study of the environment and how to protect it has become very important to the schools in last few years.  Cool Earth will be supporting the schools throughout the year and this is where we will be posting updates and information about them.
