What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a simple scheme that allows charities to claim an additional 25p from every £1 donated by UK taxpayers. In addition to this, the Government provides Transitional Relief of 2%. So while charities will claim 25p from each £1 donated, they will actually receive 28p until the 2011 tax year.

To qualify for Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that the charity reclaims on your donations in the appropriate tax year (currently 25p for each £1 given). Tax year is 6 April one year to 5 April the next. For further information on tax effective giving click here.

We need a name (minimum - initial and surname) and address (minimum - house number and postcode) in order to successfully claim your Gift Aid. Please make sure you fill in these details.

How do I Gift Aid my donations?

Fundraising - Events and Sponsorships

If you are being sponsored for an event you can download our sponsorship form here. This allows all people who are eligible to Gift Aid their individual sponsorship.

Please note that all sponsorship should be given to the charity and not used to pay for event fees. Any money used for paying fees should not be entered onto the sponsorship form.

If you are holding an event like a cake sale or a party then we cannot claim Gift Aid. If you are unsure whether you can Gift Aid your event donations then contact us.

Individual Donations

Online donations

If you are making a donation or sponsoring an acre online, it's easy. Just follow the online instructions when making your payment and you can Gift Aid your donation.

Post and telephone donations

You can download and fill in our Gift Aid Declaration form and send it to our registered office.

Multiple donations

If you are sending us cash or multiple cheques from different people i.e. gifts in lieu of birthday presents or donations in memory of a loved one, we have to Gift Aid each donation individually. You can print out as many Gift Aid Declaration forms as you like to pass onto friends and family who have contributed a donation.

Corporate and Group donations

We welcome all gifts and fundraising donations from groups, clubs, societies and companies but are unable to Gift Aid these donations.
