Printware sell printers with a tree for Cool Earth
Printware is protecting a rainforest tree for every printer they sell, showing they take seriously the environmental impact of their products and are working hard to be carbon responsible.
The UK's
largest independent reseller on printers will contribute £1 each time one of their products is sold.
By protecting areas of rainforest that are at immediate threat of deforestation, Printware is helping Cool Earth to preserve habitats and cultures in the Peruvian Amazon, as well as tackling rising CO2 levels.
This is part of Printware's green initiative, offering customers recycled paper and discounts on reusable printer cartridges.
The Portsmouth-based printer reseller will be hoping to protect hundreds of acres in the coming months. The projects Printware will be sponsoring are particularly important because they save existing, flourishing habitats, rather than creating new ones through tree planting projects.
Cameron Mitchell, Managing Director at Printware says protecting established forest is an important way for their company to make an impact on the fight against climate change;
"Whilst tree planting schemes are a great way to offset emissions, we felt that it was far more important to preserve those established rainforests that have been helping the environment for hundreds of years."
"Cool Earth does an excellent job saving endangered
rainforests, which in turn protects habitats and ecosystems as well as
providing effective removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. As such, they were an
obvious choice. Hopefully we can play our part and enable them to save many
thousands of acres of forest that would otherwise be decimated."
Matthew Owen, Cool Earth's director says the aim to save trees has already led to nearly 100 protected acres;
"Printware are attaching the
sponsorship of an endangered Amazon tree to the sale of each of their
printers, helping to minimise their environmental impact and making a
positive contribution to indigenous communities living in the Peruvian
rainforest.Their protection of 83 acres is keeping forest which with out
their help would have been lost to logging."
