Protecting rainforests with Cool Earth Action - Keeping carbon where it belongs

Indigenous tribesman tour of the UK

The diary of an indigenous tribesman in England - Javier Dril Bustamante launches Cool Earth's CO2 campaign before heading to climate change talks in Copenhagen.  Dec 2009

Franticly marking the vast canopy trees,  Javier Dril Bustamante rallies the people of Cutivireni, the loggers are encroaching at the boundaries of their rainforest territory in the Peruvian Amazon. Smearing dye on these hardwood giants is a clear message that this land belongs to a community.  There's relief as the message is conveyed and the loggers move away. But just weeks later the whirr of chainsaws and the crack of timber before it falls is unmistakable. Just 5km from their protected land deforestation advances.

It's this experience that drives Javier to come to England then Copenhagen to help Cool Earth launch their latest campaign.
