The Copal produces a resin which can be harvested as a non timber product and burned as incense or used to make varnish. The flow of the resin is promoted by a weevil larvae which hatches inside the bark and starts to eat its way out. Bees also use the resin to make their nests. The bark is used medicinally for cystitis and coughs.
