Kyle & Bryan Save the Rainforest!

As some of you know, I will be graduating from the College of Engineering at Washington State University this winter and to culminate my studies I will be embarking on a trip to India this spring. We will be touring across the northern part of the country for two weeks through the desert from the Himalayas to tea country on Rickshaws. For those of you who are not familiar with this form of automotive travel I urge you to take a look at the link below. These motorcycle taxis be an adventure in and of themselves. The event is called the Rickshaw Run, which takes place every six months, occurring on various routes through India. The journey is characterized by slim planning and many obstacles, the Adventurists citing it as a trip with “no set route, no back-up, no way of knowing if you're going to make it. The only certainty is that you will get lost, you will get stuck and you will break down.” Our route (more or less) will take us through the top of India outlining the word lost, surely of trial of endurance as well educational pursuit to round off my four years of school. The wonders of the Rickshaw Run are highlighted by the many magnificent and spontaneous surprises India has to offer its travelers and so in honor of the amazing beauty of our great planet the Adventurists have asked each participant of the Rickshaw Run to raise a donation equal to cost of the trip, as a gift to CoolEarth, an organization devoted to preserving rainforests. They are primarily focused in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Peru and they do some pretty awesome work. Their projects range from assisting native villages to shield and protect local rainforest, to limiting palm oil and gold extraction that are damaging many regions of the world. Their efforts are also in large to combat climate change, or in other words the depletion of our global freshwater supply and oxygen production. Our rainforests provide about 20% of our O2 production and 1/5 of our H2O supply, not to mention a home to many local villages and the over six million different species (many undiscovered). My partner in the Rickshaw Run, Bryan Churchill and I would like to ask our friends and family for a contribution to the CoolEarth cause. We will be fundraising for the next few months to meet the goal of $3,000 to donate to the great people working to halt rainforest destruction and empower locals to take back the forests. ALL of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the CoolEarth foundation, not towards the cost of our trip. Give what you can or stay tuned for any upcoming fundraising events. We’ll be sure to share with you a little slice of our Indian adventure when we return. And be sure to check out the area below for more info on Adventurists, donation opportunities and the good ole' Euro to USD exchange rate. Immense thanks and best regards to all. Kyle and Brian
