We’ve decided to do the unimaginable and spend our honeymoon traversing the country of India driving 1,600 miles in a motorized tuk tuk (essentially a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower). ‘Team Chicken Stew’ will be heading off starting from Cochin in the southern region of Kerala and ending at a finish line in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, “racing” dozens of other teams from around the world it what is called the Rickshaw Run. (www.theadventurists.com/rickshaw-run) Oh and did we mention that it’s monsoon season in August! We know it might sound completely insensible, and we’re bound to breakdown, fight until the cows come home, and go through reams of duct tape but we can’t wait for the adventure! In efforts to justify this questionable act we’re raising money for charity. Thats where you come in, the company we’re traveling with sponsors a charity called Cool Earth.
We’re partnering with three strategically located villages to halt the advance of the palm frontier from the east – shielding the pristine rainforest behind.
