I have been so lucky to be one of the 30 people that have been selected to participate in the 2019 Mongol Derby, a 1000 km race trough the Mongolian steppe to be completed in max ten days. The race recreates Chinggis Khaan’s legendary empire-busting postal system, the horses are local Mongolian and I will be changing horse once every 40 km, (Horse welfare is the primary concern and all of the rules put in place are designed with the horses in mind.) these animals are small but extremely tough, semi-wild and selected by nature, surviving the extreme summer and winter temperatures During the race time I will live with the local herders or camping outside. In the months to come, I will train hard, physically and mentally to prepare myself for the upcoming event but also trying hard to reach as many people as possible to talk about Cool Earth and the importance of saving the rainforest together!
The matter of carbon storage is particularly important to me, as a farmer and a nature lover I am a firm believer that doing our part in carbon sequestration, be it trough making your own compost, regenerative agriculture or a donation to CoolEarth, we can all do our part and make a difference for our planet! Carbon storage is the best chance we have to halt, or even reverse climate change! Reversing climate change is possible, and most of all, it’s essential! Not to mention the importance to save the rainforest, as a habitat as a place of water and carbon storage, rainforests are part the few last virgin forests that have never been touched or destroyed by mankind, it has the greatest biodiversity found on earth, so each acre of rainforests saves more habitat than many acres elsewhere. Let’s save it together!
