Motorcycling mayhem from UK to Russia!
This July I'll be taking part in 'The Mongol Rally' with The Adventurists and riding a 125cc motorcycle 18,000km from Winchester, UK to Ulan Ude, Russia.
Since 2004 the rally has inspired hundreds of enthusiasts, though not everyone made it to Mongolia.
The idea behind the rally is that you need the cheapest, least powerful car - in my case, a motorcycle - and make your way around Europe and Asia, finishing at the Russian city of Ulan Ude.
Part of the Rally is raising funds for charity, in particular, The Adventurists' chosen charity, 'Cool Earth'.
Cool Earth is a charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change, sharing the most effective conservation methods around the world and investing in those with the potential for best outcomes for people and rainforest.
Our changing climate is the most pressing challenge facing our world today. Forest loss plays a major part in this, contributing to more than 12% of all CO2 emissions.
Tropical forests have the highest carbon density of all forest types due to their ability for vast carbon sequestration. Therefore, protecting rainforest is one of the most effective actions we can take to tackle climate breakdown.
Working with communities who want to protect their forest; from setting up an in-country team to working directly with communities and local NGOs to develop their capacity, Cool Earth's partnerships are community-led and adaptable to each location.
Keeping rainforests standing is the simplest and cheapest way to mitigate climate change.
I'm aiming for at least £500 and every pound counts!
