Cool Earth is supporting rainforest communities in the fight against coronavirus. Find out more.

Sponsoring trees funds communities whose rainforest is at risk from loggers. It helps villages invest in sustainable livelihoods that depend on the forest being kept standing.

Scientific Name: Pometia pinnata  | Common names: Taun Tree, Island Lychee, Tava
Height: up to 40m | Width: up to 2m

Notes: Matoa is a large tropical hardwood which grows into a tall canopy tree throughout south east asia. They have pinnate leaves and green, yellow or dark red fruits about the size of your thumb, which taste a bit like a lychee and are a popular fruit for eating in Papua New Guinea.

What you receive: A personalised, downloadable certificate, an online profile, and updates about the partnerships you’re supporting.

Sponsoring a tree with Cool Earth is just one way we package your support. Cool Earth does not buy land or trees from our community partners and therefore cannot sell them to our supporters.
Instead, the money from tree sponsorship goes towards Cool Earth’s essential rainforest conservation projects around the world.
