At the heart of climate action

Thank you for joining us at The Conduit for an evening discussing ‘Deforestation Halt: People Power in the Congo Basin’.

In 2023, halting tropical deforestation is the world’s most cost-effective and scalable climate action. Yet, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo alone, half a million hectares of forest were lost last year. That’s three times the size of Greater London.

But one group of people could be the key to unlocking the solutions for a healthy rainforest. The people that call the rainforest home.

In partnership with Go Conscious Earth, Cool Earth supports local people in Équateur Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo to ensure that their rainforest is protected, used and managed by Indigenous peoples and local communities. We work with these communities to protect the basin, the biodiversity that keeps it healthy, and the 32 billion tonnes of carbon stored in trees, peatlands and plants there.
