Protecting the environment is in OVO’s DNA. In year one they pledged to save 100,000 acres of at-risk rainforest in the Ene Valley of Peru. Six years on, they are doing so much more.
Working alongside the Asháninka, OVO has helped to improve healthcare through new medical outposts and supported income generation by funding cacao and coffee growing projects.
As well as hard wiring the partnership into their brand, OVO’s team has become regular visitors to our community partners.
They’re now taking the Cool Earth model to Africa as the lead funder of our Congo Basin partnership.
“In partnership with Cool Earth OVO Energy is harnessing the power of our customers and using it to make the most significant positive impact on our environment that we could find. ”
Stephen Fitzpatrick, CEO, OVO EnergyOVO Energy
OVO is partnering with 16 Asháninka villages to save 100,000 acres of rainforest in Peru.
The Asháninka are Peru’s largest indigenous nation and until now have lived deep in the heart of the amazon rainforest. Today, the deforestation frontline has arrived on their doorstep. Our Asháninka Project is in the Ene Valley, one of the world’s most at-risk areas. Illegal logging and the cocaine trade are destroying the forest. With the support of OVO, Cool Earth is linking villages together to shield millions of acres of neighbouring forest.
