The courtship ritual of the satin bowerbird must be the most elaborate out of all birds of paradise. The male satin bowerbird devotes all his energy to building a thatched walkway and surrounding it with ornaments, such as flowers and scraps of plastic- but only blue ones. The female is then invited into the walkway where the couple then mate.
