Birdwing butterfly

The largest butterfly in the world is the Queen Alexandra’s birdwing – with a wingspan of a massive 31cm across. Found in Papua New Guinea, these rare butterflies are being devastated by the illegal butterfly trade – a pair can fetch as much as $8,500.
