This year’s theme focuses on implementing the rights of indigenous people. Cool Earth has been doing this for seven years. Unlike other rainforest charities, Cool Earth works to empower the forest’s most effective guardians: the indigenous people who live there. Since 2007 we have built 8 successful partnerships with 35,410 indigenous people. They have all been determined to protect their rainforest. Our success is their success.
Cool Earth safeguards our partner communities land rights, strengthens their livelihoods and gives them the resources they need to keep their forest in tact. As a result, more than 400,000 acres of previously at-risk rainforest remains standing today.
Cool Earth would like to take the credit. But we can’t. Our supporters and our 81 indigenous partner communities are the real heroes. And here they are…
