For our Asháninka partners, chocolate’s not just for Easter. It might just save their rainforest…
Cacao, the key ingredient in chocolate, is the main livelihood for over 300 families in our Asháninka Project.
Each year, they harvest, ferment and sell 12 million cocoa beans. This income enables our partners to turn away the loggers and keep their rainforest standing.
But after years of producing millions of precious beans, their cacao trees are exhausted.
New cacao seedlings, planted in the shade of the forest canopy, will keep this income stream alive and ensure our partners can support their families, save their rainforest and make the Easter Eggs of the future.
