Making a song and dance about rainforest

Every year each village in Milne Bay province gathers on Bona Bona island for a competition. The young people from each village prepare songs and dances, and each village performs in front of judges.

These competitions are not only something the whole community can get involved in, they are a rare chance for remote villages to get together to gossip, plan, and meet future partners. Gadaisu village used Cool Earth funds to buy some fabric from the market, which was made into costumes for the dances.

And this year, they won the competition, for the third time in a row.
