Cool Earth’s Top Six Camera Trap Pictures

From the extremely shy, spectacled bear to the jubilant jaguar, you can find animals in abundance throughout the rainforest. In fact, the Amazon alone is home to nearly a third of our planet’s terrestrial life forms. This rich habitat informs a mysterious, yet dramatic existence where extraordinary animals are attempting to survive in one of the most competitive places on earth.

Why Biodiversity is important for Cool Earth's mission

Cool Earth’s partnerships uphold a strong advocacy for biodiversity. Often, the decline in a species is used as an indicator of forest health. By keeping a close eye on these indicators or ‘umbrella’ species, Cool Earth’s community forest watch teams are able to predict forest trends, inadvertently protecting habitat and other species. Often forest watch teams use camera trap footage to engage the community in the importance of wildlife.
