Meeting Marin

Marin Orrego, Uracuza village, Awajún Partnership

“Since I was a child, I didn’t like the idea of the forest disappearing. I always wished that we could conserve it. Thanks to Cool Earth, we can. If everyone thought in the same way, imagine, the forest could be so close to us, it would be protected everywhere.

“The forest is our friend. When it is close, the animals and birds will be closer, which is good for everyone. Bats don’t know how to work, but they know how to plant. They bring seeds from far away to drop them in our forest. Birds also plant seeds, without knowing it’s best for their future. We know better than them.

I want to see more people plant Inga. I hope it will help mothers grow more food for their families.

It is good the villagers are working in fish farms. Before, they used to throw poison into the river to get fish. Now it will not be this way, the river will be alive again, and the community will have fish to sell and to eat.”
