The Queen’s Green Planet

COMMONWEALTH NATIONS ARE HOME TO A FIFTH OF THE WORLD'S FORESTS

A new landmark documentary from ITV explored the ambition of The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), a vast network of native forests across Britain and the Commonwealth.

The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy was conceived by Frank Field MP, Cool Earth’s chair of trustees. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the value of forests and to preserve them for future generations. Cool Earth has played a key role in the project’s development and our partnership in Wabumari, Papua New Guinea, is part of the QCC.

The documentary from ITN Productions followed the progress of the QCC. It featured a unique conversation between Her Majesty The Queen and Sir David Attenborough as they walked in the garden at Buckingham Palace last summer, in which they discuss trees, nature and conservation.

The Queen’s Green Planet aired on ITV in the UK on Monday 16th April at 9pm GMT.
