Pollada | Canteen and Cool Earth

We love it when a plan comes together.
And when opportunities like this fall into your lap, you've got to go running, with knife and fork and Pollada bunting in hand.

Finding and working with like-minded individuals right on your doorstep, to achieve a common goal is hard to beat.

On Friday 29th June, Cool Earth teamed up with Canteen Cornwall for a meal with a difference. Pollada is the way to bring people together and raise cash for a crisis, and this has been proven to work both sides of the Atlantic. And now that this tradition has been shared, it’s great to be able to give money directly back to the communities of the rainforest. Helping to keep trees standing for good.

This Peruvian tradition of family, food and friends coming together, caught the eye of Canteen’s Sam and Ben Quinn. With inspiration for Ben’s food from all over the world, and caring for the environment with a selfless zest, Cool Earth’s Pollada really chimed with their ethos. Canteen describe themselves as ‘purpose led’, valuing connections within their community. We think this event made that very clear.

“We are more than just plates of food, we are a group of like minded individuals making life time memories.”

Ben Quinn, Founder and chef

And what a meal it was. The cliffs of St Agnes on the North Cornish coast made the most stunning backdrop possible for a Pollada. Local individuals and businesses gathered and got stuck in, sharing food and conversation, while raising funds for Cool Earth’s rainforest saving work. Canteen donated not only their staff and space but a huge amount of time to pull off the Pollada with flair.

Of course, no Pollada is complete without an excellent beer, and for this sun-drenched Cornish cliff party, it had to be Skinner’s. The brewery donated crates of Lushingtons, their cool, hop-laden pale ale. And even better, it matched the sunset and Pollada bunting colour scheme just perfectly.

We asked all the guests to host their own Polladas this summer, taking to social media to spread the word and their insta-worthy snaps.

“Saving the rainforest through community, fabulous food and the best of Cornish sunsets – genius! The Cool Earth Pollada provided a wonderful evening of delicious eating, cold beer, making new friends and absorbing the passion to help protect our planet. Can’t wait to host my own Pollada soon!” – Sophie Clarke, guest at Canteen’s Pollada

With our thanks to Canteen Cornwall, Skinner’s Brewery and all those who turned up to eat, drink and save rainforest.

If you’re interested in throwing your own Pollada, it couldn’t be easier. We’ve got the information, bunting, invites and spice mix. There’s even a Pollada Playlist. Making it as easy as possible to get people together, have fun and raise money for Cool Earth. Want to get involved?
